Last year, Bethesda pulled another punch with their lineup for last year which included Dishonored 2 and this year with Prey. Bethesda has had an interesting year with their lineup and Prey has been somewhat of a hit as it is seen as a spiritual successor to BioShock and System Shock, more so System Shock than BioShock but it’s a really good game. We don’t know anything about Bethesda’s lineup this year, just outside of a few rumors and a leak that went around the internet a couple weeks and months ago. These rumors stated that Todd Howard’s new game will be shown at E3, the title for the game is “Starfield.” and is presumed that it is a space RPG in the style of Mass Effect and some other new projects and a leak came out a couple months ago that The Evil Within 2 is a real thing and it’s going to get QA tested before October 31st, and speculation has revolved around The Evil Within 2 being released on Halloween. As for Wolfenstein, it was teased last year and hasn’t been heard of since although we do know that it does exist.
Bethesda’s E3 conference is up in the air, as we don’t know what’s their lineup for the Fall or their “Fallout 4” blowout for this year so anything can happen. Let’s predict what we will see:
Todd Howard’s New Game Is Shown.
Todd Howard and his team, Bethesda Game Studios just wrapped up Fallout 4 last September with Nuka World, the last and final batch of DLC for Fallout 4. Another Fallout from Todd Howard and his crew is out of the game, The Elder Scrolls VI will be out a long time from now according to Todd Howard and Pete Hines, and Todd Howard said that they have three projects that they’re doing right now and I have a suspicion that one is close to being finished and this one is titled “Starfield.” . Before I get into the prediction, let me give you some backstory:
The first time I heard about Starfield was back in 2012, alongside the Void Engine that powered Dishonored 2 and supposedly Starfield is a game about space and exploration, think about Interstellar and Mass Effect. The trademark has been renewed constantly since 2012 and every trademark renewal seems to point that this is the next big game from Todd Howard.
So back to the present: Everything here about this game is speculative as of now but I believe that Starfield is the next big thing from Todd Howard and it will release this Fall and will be pushed onto Project Scorpio and will feature a new engine.
The Evil Within 2 gets announced for Halloween 2017.
The Evil Within was the sleeper hit of 2014, alongside Wolfenstein: The New Order but nonetheless, I felt like it was one of the sleeper hits of 2014 and I thought it was okay at best. There was a leak a couple months ago that The Evil Within 2 was going to be getting a QA Test before October 31st, 2017.
October 31st falls on a Tuesday this year and QA usually is done before the game has gone gold so I predict that The Evil Within 2 gets confirmed at E3 and is announced for Halloween and will be one of the games that will be shown running on Project Scorpio.
Wolfenstein: The New Colossal is shown and announced for Spring 2018.
At last E3, Bethesda teased the new Wolfenstein at the beginning of the show. It’s apparently titled “The New Colossal.” and apparently The New Colossal is a reference to a poem by Emma Lazarus which was written in 1883 to raise money for The Statue of Liberty, in 1903 the poem was engraved into Lady Liberty herself.
So, it’s apparent that the new Wolfenstein will be set in America sometime after the end of Wolfenstein: The New Order. Wolfenstein 2 is something that I’ve been waiting for some time now because Wolfenstein: The New Order is one of my favorite games to come out of this generation and it’s expansion pack was so much fun as well. I predict that Bethesda will show it off and it will have a release date for Spring 2018, as Todd Howard’s new game and The Evil Within 2 will be out by this Fall and Wolfenstein 2 will be shown on Project Scorpio.
New Fallout Game to be Announced for 2018.
I’m putting this into the “Maybe.” category since Fallout 4 just wrapped up last September but a man can hope, right? I’m hoping for another New Vegas style game, a spin-off from the main series to hold us over for Fallout 5, whenever that game drops. I hope that the game takes place outside of the East and West Coasts of America, taking place in Michigan or somewhere around the American south like the Carolinas or Louisiana for example.
I’m 100% positive that my prediction on this will be wrong but I can hope for a new Fallout game and it will be made by the new Bethesda Game Studios in Montreal. I’m just waiting patiently again for a new Fallout.
That’s it for the Bethesda predictions, I hope some of these predictions will hopefully come true. Stay tuned next month for one last final predication before we head into E3!
