Ever since Road to Hill 30 released back in 2005, I was a huge fan of WW2 shooters and that became my favorite franchise as the rest of the gaming industry moved to Modern Warfare with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007. When Hell’s Highway released in 2008, I was ecstatic and eager to play it. Once, I was finished, I contemplated the future of the series and then the years passed.
Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Aliens:Colonial Marines all came out with no sign of the next Brothers in Arms, and now Battleborn is set to release this May, I’m really questioning either if Gearbox will return to Brothers in Arms after that cliffhanger at the end of the third game.
Randy Pitchford always said that he will return to Brothers in Arms and is currently working on what is unassumingly, the last game in the series where Baker and the rest of the 101st Airborne Division will fight in the Ardennes during The Battle of the Bulge in the Winter of 1944-1945 where the Airborne held the line in the Bois Jacques ( The Ardennes) against the German forces that tried to break through and tried to wedge a breakthrough between the American Paratroopers and the British forces in Northern France.
I have faith that the game will come out, hopefully by 2018 or 2019 so we can finally see what happens to Sgt. Baker and his company after the failed Market-Garden campaign in the Fall of 1944, here are some things that I would like to see:
The Siege of Bastonge
We know the Battle of the Bulge was fought in the Bois Jacques and the town of Bastonge, I would like to see what happened there as the 101st Airbone Division defended the town from the Germans which had them surrounded.
The Ardennes Counter-Offensive.
The overall battle took place in the woods, the Germans encircled the 101st Airbone in the Bois Jacques forest. The airborne was encircled and I would like to see how Gearbox treats this with Sgt. Baker and the rest of his unit.
After the Battle of the Bulge, the 101st Airborne moved to Haguenau which is in the Ardennes-Lorraine / Alsace-Lorraine region in France, this battle was fought in February 5th, 1945. This battle was seen in Band of Brothers in one of the episodes, I would like to see if Gearbox incorporates this into the next Brothers in Arms.
. . .
If Randy Pitchford and Gearbox say they are working on the next Brothers in Arms, I would like to see these battles incorporated into whatever the new title is, maybe The Road to Bastonge? Or the Road to Hagenau? To signal that this is the concluding chapter of Matthew Baker and his company, what a better way to have the title come full circle like Road to Hill 30 was the beginning and Road to Bastonge is the end of the series.
When do you think Brothers in Arms 4 will come out?
